It's amazing how different sets can look when the lights are off.
Reminds me of the old Millionaire set. In the behind-the-scenes video, they showed the set without the lights on and it was all grey and boring. Add that lighting, and it is transformed. Comes to life. You can see that with Studio B here.
It would be the same for RTÉ's set of Winning Streak. A rebroadcasted
VT on Nationwide had Mary Kennedy come in with 2 famous Irish theatre actors aired a while back during Covid. At one point; it showed the Winning Streak set with all of the main lights for the show switched off. It looked drab & boring. The orange on the wall of the set looked like a tanned orange & tanned brown while the set lighting was off. It looks hideous. For context one of the actors had been in a show from RTÉ Studio 1 from the 60's. That is where Winning Streak is pre-recorded at RTÉ. But as soon as the lights come on for for it's broadcast to air for Saturday night. It comes into it's own with all of it's different colours looking like a completely different place for the TV presenters, the players & the audience.
The same can be said when looking at that shot of Studio B at BH. It can look drab & boring when it's off air. But when Impact, Live with Lucy Hockings, Talking Business, Newsnight & VD come on air in there. Everything changes from that point & it looks great.
