Karin Giannone did the first three hours of BBC World News this morning from Studio C. All normal.
Ben Brown has come on with the 4th hour (9am BST) introducing it as a UK and Global edition of BBC News, also from Studio C.
But they’re still using the London sky blue skyline backdrop. Doesn’t the backdrop normally revert to the BBC Newsroom backdrop for the joint broadcasts?

It does normally revert to the newsroom backdrop when they’re simulcasting. But I’m not complaining!

Me neither! I’ve missed that skyline of late.
But another significant difference between the broadcast: Karin gave us 3 or 4 headlines at the top; Ben gave us 27! And it went on for ages.
The thing is, it’s all a bit odd. You’ve got a senior NC/BBC One presenter, in the World studio with world background, with world titles, using the catwalk at the TOTH.
I’m not complaining. I like change every now and again.
Could I say I prefer the London backdrop in C think they should keep it when the News Channel uses it for the Five when we return to normal.
The London backdrop is much nicer but I wonder if it is seen as creating a too London centric vibe and that is why it seems to always be avoided for news channel or is it just to reduce the differences on screen when in another studio.

I think Sunday’s 0900 – 1100 slot is now produced by the World editorial team rather than NC’s?

What's the difference between a World style BOTH summary and a News Channel version?
World bottom of the hour summaries are timed to a minute exactly, and are usually four stories during the day and three overnight. Some are also still clipped up for Heathrow Express and internet/airline use, plus Transmission on BBC World News. News Channel only news headlines sequences are far more loose, and aren’t timed. So long as the back half hour contents back time to the top of the hour it can be as long or short as necessary.
Here on World, we no longer received BOTH summaries when Ben took over today at 0900am BST. Not sure if we had them in the preceding hours with KG though. I was in and out of those bulletins.
