That's unfair on Greg James - his comment was that Bill Bailey was (one of, if not) the first to play up its potential as a dance track. He wasn't trying to claim Bill Bailey wrote it.
I'm glad Simon credited David Lowe unlike Greg James who only credited Bill Bailey.

I guess they had rights issues with the graphics that were used on Twitter and went for their own countdown instead.

I do wonder what the average viewer makes of this stuff though. Sure it's a bit of fun (important just now), and Afternoon Live is not massively watched, but twice in a couple of weeks makes me wonder if it's a tad self-indulgent.
It's like we've all been waiting for this to happen for 20 years...

And it was followed by Breaking News sting, that hasn't been used regulary to introduce the Government Briefing.

As you say though it's a bit of fun and there's only so much coronavirus news anyone can take - I imagine the newsreaders themselves probably appreciate sometimes having a lighter story or two to cover.
This sort of thing is right up TVF's street though - where news presentation briefly becomes mainstream. Not surprised Greg James is promoting this a bit either - this is the sort of thing he absolutely loves and he's a self-confessed 'radio nerd' so probably the closest you'll get to TVF hosting the Radio 1 Breakfast show.
I'll admit before I heard the remix I was a bit cynical and thought 'Oh the BBC News theme is going viral again' (after Owain drumming the theme went viral) and worried 'The BBC News theme is cool' may be losing its novelty like things quickly can on social media. But I'm glad to say I'm wrong - it's actually incredibly good! And anything that cheers people up at the moment is no doubt a good thing.
