Ah no, my favourite was the horizontal wipe from programme slide, to IVC, that Thames seemed to love in the 1970s.
The source genlock SC-H phase timing was always slightly out, so each wipe would end with Phillip Elsmore or Diddy David doing a sideways jolt at the transition end.
It wasn't until my first job, ten years later, until I discovered (and understood) what caused the jolt !
Bring back the fade to black!

They might have done between slides, but never in or out of them ?
Did the Beeb use wipes? Don't remember.

I'm pretty sure BBC Northern Ireland did wipes (or maybe it was just a "box in" transition) from the symbol into programmes. This even happened in the early days of digital, but stopped when they started doing aspect-ratio switching.

What's the story with this Inside Out Drought special programme? I've got cable so I can only see 2 versions - London and East, is there one for each region even those not in drought?
Bizarrely I know there's an East version as Northern Ireland are showing it. They started with an odd announcement: 'even though it doesn't affect us yet here's a programme about the drought from our colleagues at BBC Norwich'. Couldn't they find anything more appropriate to show?

Thanks for that. Interesting the angle that the North West took, I assume that they all included the 2 packages that London/East shared (one on spain and one with Nick Miller in a plane).
Good programme by the way

Paul Hudson in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with those two packages and a weather forecast to finish
