aren't Lookaround are one of the remaining regions will a full sized studio and not a broomcupboard?

It's fair to say that Border are one of the few ITV Regions still to be in their original studio complex, but their studio isn't exactly 'full sized'. As I understand it, the main studio at Border stll exists but is mothballed and out of bounds even to staff. Most other ITV regions have sold off or moved out of their original studio complexes to (in some cases) some pretty sub-standard tin sheds.

hardly 'Most' regions have moved into tin sheds. Still in original TV buildings:
-Anglia
-Granada
-ITV Wales
-ITV West
-Westcountry
-Yorkshire
-Border

+ London is contracted to ITN as opposed to LNN, and in a proper studio.

Yes, some may have moved and reconfigured studios on site but that process of change happened every few years throughout ITV history - Yorkshire was on a rickety wooded stage in the newsroom for most of the 90's.

Central's still in a pretty large studio. It may not be the absolute original but they moved about 11 years ago not knowing at the time that CITV was going to move out and ITV would make programmes only in London, Leeds or Manchester. Then Central East moved in.

Central West's studio is, I think it's safe to say, the largest studio out of any region no matter how dank it looks.
Anyway the point I was trying to make is that it's far from a Tin Shed (When compared with some studios) but it's a shame they've filled up their large studio with 2 sets and that they sold off their massive studio complex in Nottingham but I doubt it would of got much use from the Network.

Granada's is larger I think and Wales must be pretty big too.

At one point Tyne Tees were using Studio 1 for the local news (still can't quite get my head around why, but there you go).

That studio was relatively massive (in local news terms) -- large enough to host game shows such as Crosswits anyway.

Even Studio 2 was around 3 or 4 times the size of the cramped little box they have now. It's embarrassing -- the NE isn't that small an area!

Though Westcountry are in a relatively compact "tin shed warehouse" operation built just for news production aren't they, as they didn't take over TSW/Westward's operation.

Oh my Life! That sofa is incredible!

Granada News used to come from Liverpool didn't it? So they're not exactly in their original studio. Did they go back to a former news studio at Quay Street or was it a new one?

"Still in original TV buildings: "

Not "Still in their original buildings".

There's a subtle difference.

The Main Granada Reports/Tonight programme has been coming from Quay Street since 1992, it's only since 1998 they haven't been using the Liverpool studios. They use Studio 2, it's for ITV Granada only and it's not advertised on the whole 3SixtyMedia thing, as the other Studios on the complex are let out to Independents and the BBC.

For those who don't know Granada moved out of the Albert Dock studios last year and moved into a new Newsroom within the Liver Building.

The Lookaround studio is actually fairly small. I was in it about a year ago. Using the image above, the cameras are more or less right against the back wall of the studio, and there isn't that much space.

There is also another news studio next the one that houses Lookaround. It isn't used anymore, but used to house 'Border News' bulletins. It had one camera, a CSO curtain, and a huge glass desk IIRC.
