Indeed. Anglia West has never (AFAIK) been based in a studio within its own sub-region!

Who were the first region to do this? Was it Anglia with both edtions based in Norwich?

Whoever said Calendar South was in Hull ? He moves between studios and appears at different times in each programme.
So both studios are in Leeds then? I didn't know, I just presumed it was in Hull or Sheffield or wherever, just like BBC Look North.
Yeah, at YTV in Leeds. Last year they split the main Calendar studio in two, so they could have two separate programmes for the evening programme (during weekdays).
Jon Mitchell usually does his weather slot on CS first, then nips next door to do his stint on CN.

I've got to ask, it's playing on my mind now. On the previous page there are caps for both Calendar North and South. How has the weatherman made it from Leeds to Hull within minutes? Or are they both in Leeds, or pre-recorded or what?

I don't know. The way the astons animate is overly-complicated and therefore looks a bit tacky. The shiny graphic thing in the corner of the other regions' headline sequences looks odd and out of place and the split screen titles disappear half way through which just looks uncomfortable. Westcountry have a simpler execution of the theme and I think look far better for it.

Baah Humbug!!
No Christmas Tree for Westcountry yet! What with that, no widescreen, second rate title sequence and no animated astons we really are the poor relation in the ITV plc regional structure.

Could you do that like the Pereodic Table as CN in my mind means Central News. How about CaN

Incidentally, steering things back onto the topic of Christmas Trees in this thread, I should point out that Anglia News seems to have a tree in the pan-regional bulletins during GMTV, but there's no tree on the East studio set during the sub-regional bulletins and Anglia Tonight. I would guess it's the same on the West studio set too.

I thought it would be clear since we were talking about Calendar (rather than nitrogen, carbon or calcium)-- but fair point all the same
I wonder which new studio will get the prize for the most over-the-top Christmas tree?

GMTV have told the regions to put the trees up for their inserts.

Eagle eyed viewers will have spotted a Christmas tree in our GMTV bulletins this morning. Don't be surprised when it vanishes again at 6pm tonight! Christmas starts much earlier on GMTV than it does on London Tonight. It's not that I'm Scrooge-like (I've already got my tree up at home..) it's just that, for me, it doesn't quite feel right to have the tree up at six-o-clock until a bit later in the month. Anyway, if you don't get up in time to watch GMTV, then you'll have to wait a week or so to see it. It's blue - and thanks to our friends at John Lewis for lending us a tree again this year. Who knew you could get a tree in ITV blue?! Anyway, just thought you'd like to know why it's there one minute, gone the next....

Watch out for the Look North (Leeds) Christmas tree, as mentioned in banter between the lovely Clare Frisby and the equally nice Lisa Gallagher during Breakfast bulletins this morning, later tonight.
Clare and Lisa were wondering who would be the fairy on top of the tree... day-glo shirts or orange babylons?
