Surely one tree is a good idea so that when it is inappropriate they can frame the shot excluding the tree, With a month almost to go one of the regions will have a story where it would be inappropriate to show a Christmas tree in the background.

Nothing from Meridian Tonight SE yet although I don't think they have much space for one in that tiny studio!

Why are they all in exactly the same place? A very strange coincidence?

Central (East & West) have theirs up too! Smile

Is it always that dark or has the tree fused all the lights?

Yes, Central West's lighting has been poor ever since the lighting change from blue to teal.

Any chance of any East captures?

(Your sentence implies you've seen both programmes, yet you've only posted West captures... Confused )

Is it just lack of lights, or are the lights not as strong as they used to be?
They used to have a nice mix of dark and light blues across the set.
Isn't it the lighting that makes the set as the set is just plain and frosted isn't it?

Also is Calender's screen bigger than Central's when you look at the pictures, or do they just have a different positioning of the seats and desk?

I think it's just lack of lights, if you look at the cap on the first page there's only two teal lights each side of the set. I don't think they really changed the set enough from when it was blue, hence it being so dark and blue where the big screen is. I think it would look better in blue like it was originally, it made the set look a hell of a lot lighter and brighter.

I've got to ask, it's playing on my mind now. On the previous page there are caps for both Calendar North and South. How has the weatherman made it from Leeds to Hull within minutes? Or are they both in Leeds, or pre-recorded or what?

Whoever said Calendar South was in Hull ? He moves between studios and appears at different times in each programme.

So both studios are in Leeds then? I didn't know, I just presumed it was in Hull or Sheffield or wherever, just like BBC Look North.

It's the way of many ITV sub-regions nowadays. For example, Central East and West both come from Birmingham, Tyne Tees North and South both from Gateshead, all the Meridian variations from Whiteley.
