Wild speculation from an eyewitness on News 24 just now. The guy claimed to be certain that it was a terrorist attack (repeated several times since by Peter Sissons) - and went on to call for police officers to be given guns.

Hmmm...

...and we've just heard from "an eyewitness who didn't see with his own eyes but heard from a friend" - who said someone from the car was trying to set bottles alight.

Are News 24 just sticking these callers on air without even finding out what they've got to say? These sort of statements are supposed to be checked out before they're put to air.

I can't see Sky News where I am at the moment - but are they doing the same thing?

I don't like to stick the boot into people. However I have no idea why Peter Sissons has still got a job. He's of a different era, and entirely unsuited to breaking news.

Scotland Today now on the air - handling it ok but massively underresourced to deal with a situation like this. They had a few witnesses but have now gone to a recorded report on the opening of the Scottish Parliament - a massive, massive error.

Are North Tonight sticking with their region or switching to covering the incident?

LOL! 200% agree, but we're stuck with him. He is useless at Breaking News...lost. I am suprised someone hasn't joined him yet as this story develops.
