The ITV news contribution to all this will be 10 minutes from 11.50am - 5 from network and 5 from STV. With the F1 in the afternoon there isn't really an easy opportunity for STV to break from the network as well.

Get a grip, there is no need for them to interrupt normal programming and provide rolling coverage. The incident has happened, what is there to add outside of a regular bulletin ? News junkies are well catered for by the news channels.
Lapping up every second of the same stuff being regurgitated ad-nauseum isn't healthy and there is no need for it to be replicated by every broadcaster.
Life goes on. So do television schedules.

And last time they trusted US intelligence they ended up searching for imaginary WMDs!
I do think on the whole coverage of this (terrestrially) has been about right - it's definately top story stuff, but it doesn't warrant none-stop rolling news at the expense of everything else!

althourgh STV got off to a woble start the news flash were done alright , and give us the info we needed
and that BBC Scotland noon show was also done just right
Not much change, just renaming the strap logo to news update, and a slightly better title.
In all fairness, the STV newsroom like any other ITV regional newsroom is run on Skeleton staff at weekends, so getting together decent enough graphics would have been the last thing on their minds, and certainly yesterday evening. After the tea time bulletin, they'd have been gearing up to go home. Like I said yesterday - hats off to them for delivering regular updates lithe way they did.
Yes, STV did very well. A news special will be on air just after 5.25 this afternoon. Anyone know if it will be on up until 6.40, or is it just a couple of minutes, or even half an hour?
