You're probably right. There were a lot of strange decisions made at that point. It is however far nearer Paisley (or perhaps Renfrew) than the city centre itself.
Special programmes announced so far by BBC:
News special on BBC1 Scotland from 1200 to 1300 BST
BBC Radio Scotland news special from 1730 to 1800 BST
Special edition of Reporting Scotland on BBC2 Scotland at 1800 BST
I presume the first one is going to be a network production, unless Scotland is opting out of The Politics Show.

I can't see the network taking the News Special, in place of the Politic show. Perhaps News 24 will take it as they did with the Look North News Special last week.

EDIT:
Due to the Diana concert, there are no bulletins on BBC One today (excluding summary in Politics show) until 22.00. All programmes shifted to BBC 2.
Well im sure if anything massive happens they will tell us. With people having access to news more than ever its rare that you wont be aware of something big.
I would guess that News 24 will not take BBC Scotland - aside from the (sometimes justified) snobbishness from London over the quality of Glasgow's work, there are two different agendas here. For Scotland it's the fact it's on our doorstep, so it is quite correct to have a completely separate programme. For the rest of the UK there is a wider context in terms of the threat to elsewhere in the country, how it is impacting on Gordon Brown and world affairs.
The ITV news contribution to all this will be 10 minutes from 11.50am - 5 from network and 5 from STV. With the F1 in the afternoon there isn't really an easy opportunity for STV to break from the network as well.

Well what more could they possibly add? A 30minute programme in the evening wouldnt go a miss. Apart form ongoing enquiries now, that doesnt warrent extended coverage does it?
Then again im a hipercrite because id like some alternative to BBC News 24 as Sky News is not on Virgin.
