I haven't seen much of this story today, but in passing when out and about, I noticed that on the US version of CNN that Gordon Brown was intermittently being referred to as Lord Brown. I've no idea where they got that from, unless it was a simple mishearing of 'Gordon', but it cropped up a few times...
They also referred to COBRA a few times as "The COBRA Crisis Cell"

And do you think your post is f***ing funny? Go away and come back when you can contribute something relevant to TV News coverage of the events that are taking place.
Only a moron like you would think I was trying to be funny. I was merely observing the apparent baptism of fire that Mr Brown is having.
As for constructive comment, CNN must now retract their "dead man" story as the Strathclyde cops have confirmed he is still alive, if in a critical condition.
Of course he could have arrested (excuse the pun) en route and some wires have been crossed.
My apologies, Alexia. Heat of the moment and probably still stunned to see my local/provincial airport involved in a terror attack.
Apologies again.

To be fair, she's right though. I have no idea what really is going through Gordon Brown's mind at the moment - but most likely he's thinking something along the lines of 'Bloody hell, this is what I've got to deal with'. A lot has happened in four days. As Sissons has just said on
Sunday AM, it's been thoroughly unpleasant for him since he came to power.
I think BBC WORLD misjudged the situation completely and overreacted. Of course the post wasn't trying to be funny, it was merely trying to point out somewhat ironically that Gordon Brown has "looked forward" to this - the events that have happened within the past four days.

News broadcasters will always get things wrong. It happens, at the time of serious news there is lots of running around confirming the story, this is done by a large number of people and differt people say different things, and some errors may arise because no one exactly knows alot when it comes down to breaking news.

Yes, James. Fair point, as I indicated above too. Apologies again.
Due to some satellite issues out here, I had to make do with only CNNI last night to monitor coverage of the news (couldn't get Sky or BBCW). I feel that CNNI handled it well, considering their kinda "remoteness" from the whole thing in Atlanta. Their handling was fairly credible and I was pleased to see Louise White ot STV appearing on CNNI and doing a good job too!
Sorry if I missed this above, but does Sky have any heavies on the scene yet in Glasgow? I gather that the BBC has Bill Turnbull up there. Any participation yet from the BBC RS team?

Reporting Scotland heavily involved in the News 24 coverage so far.
BBC News 24 now live at the scene in Houston, a normally extremely quiet village in Renfrewshire (which is in the same region as the airport - despite being called Glasgow Airport, it's actually not in the city itself). Police are searching homes there.
