Yes I was not the right medium for him to show what Britain what he is all about. He was very nervous but to be fair it was the first time he was on front of an audience of 8 million people. Can he run for election next year or will he?

Would you care to elaborate what you mean by that?

What would be the right medium? A Nazi rally?

he deserves the chance to be not interrupted every time he says something controversial. Everyone knows he has extreme views so let him tell Britain without being shouted down at by the audience. He is a man of integrity unlike most of the MP's who have no respect for the public.

(P.S. I do not agree with the majority of Nick Griffin's views)

Why did you suggest a Nazi rally in your reply, Gavin?

Are you trying to fuel media misconceptions or just making an uninformed statement hoping that nobody will question your obvious error?

That is the role of the Party Political and Party Election Broadcast, not a current affairs or news programme. The format of Question Time is such that many politicians are confronted by the audience when they are unhappy with their replies to questions - he hasn't been singled out for special treatment. His views are very much in the minority, thank God, in this country, and as such the majority in the audience demonstrated this.

As for your statement about his integrity - I vehemently disagree.

I find his smug and patronising, yet ignorant, approach and stance, repugnant. His cynical posturing is a transparent attempt to make his party's repellent policies more palatable to an ill-informed section of the electorate... I don't believe he has changed his core views since the 70s when he was a leading light in the National Front, however he has realised that the only way to get even a small amount of real power is to masquerade as a more moderate and less "scary" politician. However he is scarier as a result - as people are actually misguided enough to vote for him now.

(I lived near Tower Hamlets during the early 90s BNP-led demonstrations. It told me everything I needed to know about the party...)

My two cents - I didn't watch all of it, maybe half but I felt that Griffin was being shouted down the whole time. I have absolutely no time for his views, but I felt that the moderator should have allowed him more room to express his views uninterrupted for all of us to see just how ridiculous his opinions are.

I find this programme annoying anyway, the audience clap to every single sentence.

I watched the whole programme and didn't feel the same. When he said something ridiculous - or ignorant - the audience and panel reacted... He was certainly given enough rope...

Other politicians have been treated similarly - the recent expenses programme comes to mind.

Many political scientists of course, argue that the BNP is in fact a far left 'fascist' entity; an idea that I don't exactly disagree with myself. These links are just the first I saw...

I think it helps if you have a grasp of horse-shoe politics.

Well done the BBC for letting the BNP on QT.

SHAME on you BBC for making question time a witch hurt, now yes the BNP have far right wing views BUT there set him up with bunch of PC people, and there turn QT in to Car crash telly.

Maybe if there were question about the postal stirke, Poppy appel, something else then may there could have pulled it of. I have a good mind to make a complain

Several weeks ago aman in the QT audience put his hand up when Dimbleby ask had anyone voted for them the BNP.
he was booed by the audience and Dimbleby failed to stop this.
Dimbleby also gives any politician who might get into power an easy ride.
Jack Straw was once a complete trotskyite, until he realised he wouldnt get anywhere with
that cxxx, so if Griffith has softened his approach why didnt Dimbleby point
this out, if Griffith is being economical with the truth so is Straw!!
The audience appeared more middle class left via less eloquent lower class right and I think this was
very probably deliberate.
Never the less, people are entitled to complain about too much immigration whether they are the 'sooties out' brigade or the people who worry about numbers, non intergration or too many Aussies and yanks,
personally i find Bonnie greer a total ruddy bore, a pretentious American who should keep her opinions to a newspaper column.
In the interests of balance at least one other right wing personality should have been included on the panel, (non politician, Peter Hitchins for example), if only to balance out Jacks Straws use of interuption as the chair appears unable to know what balance is.
Hitchin at least knows what bulldust sounds like and would have shot down all of the other panelists.par
All the present politicians play for maximum votes and are aware of ethnic and social groups in their constituancies and Dimbleby is well aware of this, he is useless as a chairman if he cannot keep his own politics quiet.
I am fed up with the liberal left telling people what to say or think, I myself dont like the terms 'Pxxi' or 'Nxxxxx' because they are normally used as insults, but it gets silly when Bonnie corrects someone who descibes her as 'Afro- Carribean' with "no I'm an 'AFRICAN-CARRIBEAN', 20 years ago she would have been called 'West-Indian'
To be absolutely correct, AFRICAN AMERICAN would be more accurate that drawl of hers never came from this side of the 'Pond'.
I have never worried about skin colour, religion or sexual tastes, people are people but I know I worry when I read about one particular religion wanting more for itself or our soldiers getting insulted in the streets or our country unable to secure its borders and maintain a steady population that has a chance to intergrate.
Like Griffin I find it find it a little unsettling if two men or woman start kissing in the street, whether thats my problem or their being insensitive to others is another arguement, Griffin stated he found it made him feel ill or queesy, that doesnt make the man a monster but he sure took a booing from the right on, yahboo crowd that QT assembled, Griffin was put on trial for his beliefs yet this is a democracy the man is entitled to his opinions without being labeled for something the german and italian and spanish people put up with for many years under DICTATORSHIPS, the warning from histy is not keep out the Right/Left wings but make sure your democracy is SET IN STONE, at the moment we are giving ours away to our so called trading partners and a system that tells us what to do without any of us having a say, its called the EU!

I have reposted this letter on this forum because the BBC refused to, stating that certain words (even used in context of this arguement) made my post unprintable.
This is the reason I stopped using the beebs forums a couple of years ago they censor everything if it doesnt suite their moderators political tastes!!

Where was George Galloway? That would have been a great show down.
