Do we know if this comes with Dimbleby’s other presenting responsibilities too? Ie election night.

Huw Edwards theoretically took over after 2015, but ultimately Dimbleby did another after May called a snap election in 2017...

Interested to see whether Fiona Bruce will stand down from any of her other presenting duties and who would replace her.

Probably the closest to a white male they could get without it actually being a white male. A safe and capable pair of hands, but feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.

A missed opportunity to try something a bit more adventurous? This is Question Time we're on about.

An unexpected choice, I don’t think she’s hosted any sort of political programme, or chaired a debate, or specialised in the politics side of news in recent years.

She’s a well known name though and a safe pair of hands, and much better than if they’d chosen Victoria Derbyshire.

Has she accepted it?

Relief all round it wasn't Victoria Derbyshire, you need someone to keep control of the panel and the audience, I'm afraid VD can do neither.

I think Victoria Derbyshire would have been pretty good but meh.

I can't imagine her chairing a debate. Should have been somebody who doesn't take any nonsense like Kirsty Wark.

She'll still be hosting debates on her own show. The next one is on December 3rd from Birmingham about Brexit.

I've been banned from the main forum for a week due to discussion of Brexit. It appears discussion of that subject is outside the rules.

Just making sure you don't fall into such a trap as I was not aware that it was off-limits.

Emma Barnett would have been good but Fiona is a solid choice.

Not yet confirmed, she's "in talks".
