Tomorrow is the 40th anniversary of the first edition of Question Time with Robin Day.

I know it came from the Greenwood Theatre. Does anyone know if it was live or recorded?

QT with Robin Day was appointment to view tv. Would never miss it. Hard to imagine it’s 40 years old!

Lovely montage at the end of the programme.

Blimey, some politicians (except John Prescott) were a lot slimmer in the past. It's quite amazing how they got away with a cheap office conference table and some back panels as a 'set' back in 1979. Very Happy

Is it me or has there been a lack of interesting panalists lately?

And by that I mean well known people from the world of broadcast media, historians, business people and even comedians who may have more nuanced opinions on matters on issues rather than the black and white “PREVENTING THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE” and “ THAT’S WHY WE NEED A PEOPLES VOTE” views of the crop journalists and politicians that they seem to have on lately.

It doesn’t seem likely very often they tease who’s going to be on future shows and you think to yourself “oh, that will be interesting.”

Admittedly Theo Paphitis was teased for next week.

I can only assumed they are so preoccupied in making sure all the different political factions are represented something this kind of selection has gone off the wayside.

I actually think that's more of a set than the expo banners we have today.

I agree! The simplicity of a round-ish table lends more to the debate, somehow, with previous participants being able to look each other in the eye! Lol.

Today’s set is hideous.
