Whilst it is commendable that the news channels are covering this whole whale thing, but surely the Lib Dem political scandal is more worthy than the death of a whale? It seems almost blanket coverage at the moment, it's just a whale!

Or am I alone in this? Shocked

There has been extensive coverage on N24 of the Mark Oaten situation. Sure, they've still been dedicated significant amounts of time to the whale - rather excessive amounts - but hardly at the expense of the Oaten story.

I've not seen Sky News this evening, but I'm sure others will be able to offer objective information on Sky's coverage of the Oaten story.

Sky News' coverage has been basically 50-50 on the Whale and the Oaten stories since the latter broke.

I don't think too much time has been dedicated to the Whale story over the past few days. Sky News has recieved a massive response through its email address and txt number. The story has obviously caught the hearts and imaginations of many. It will be interesting to see the viewing figures of both Sky News and BBC News 24 for the last two days, and see how they differ compared to a normal Friday and Saturday.

I know coverage has been about 50-50, but I'm intruiged as to why the whale is getting 50% of coverage at all!

Well the whale is a unique story isnt it. Doesnt happen very often. How many times is a politician in the news over a scandal? All the time.
