I'd imagine she'd just keep her British stiff upper lip for the people and continue her role. The likes of Prince Charles or Anne would probably accompany her on her appointments.

A lot of premature talk here, chaps, and none of it to do with tv news coverage IMO.

There were mutterings of him not being too well at the beginning of the year, which I from what I've heard, prompted a few obits to be brought up to date, but since appearing in public and everything seemed fine again.

I'd say if they haven't been updated already, there'll be a few people sitting in edit suites over the next few days 'just incase' - after all, no harm im having it up to date and ready to go should he pass unexpectedly.

Not TV coverage, but it looks like the Sky News website is certainly having its obituary updated... possibly a little more publicly than they anticipated:

I consider myself an ex-republican myself - I strongly questioned the Monarchy in the past - but then George Bush got elected US President and that put me right off republics.

After all, I'd rather have the Royal Family as "Head of State" than any of Britain's leading politicians...

Well, technically speaking that Queen hands down any powers of 'Head of State' invested in her to the PM in royal perogative.

Even 'royal assent' of legislation is hardly obligatory as it is just a convention (a dated practice if you will) from the UK Constitution. It isn't written down anywhere, absolutely nowhere at all. Ever heard of 'Black Rod'? He's exactly the same as well. One year Brown could say 'no, we'll do without him I think' and there would be nothing that anybody could do about it. Same with the Queen. Except nobody would, because it would seem wrong after doing things like this for a millennium

LOL - "very model of a Royal consort" - weren't saying that when he was "alive", were they?

I do wonder if he has died. If he has - Will they announce it before or after Grand National?

Could be under embargo until this evening - wasn't the Queen Mother announced in the same sort of situation?

Could be, but earlier BBC NEWS 24 was outside the hospital doing a very chirpy report. That was only at 1420 - IF Sky News released that web page they would and took it off they we all know they would have known about it all at the same time.

Doubt veyr much he's died but you never know.

Seems more likely that someone published rather than saving to the appropriate place for obituaries and the like.
