I recall Prince Edward and Sophie getting married on a Saturday. I remember seeing it on a tv in a diner with my friend at the time with cameras inside the chapel.

Yes, they did, and so did Charles and Camilla - although that wasn't originally the plan, it was supposed to be on the Friday but was delayed 24 hours so Charles could go to the Pope's funeral (which also meant Dermot Murnaghan presented the BBC coverage rather than Huw Edwards). In that instance the Beeb showed all the various bits of business, including Charles and Camilla going to the ceremony, whereas ITV only showed the service so started about two hours into the BBC coverage, and also had a massive DOG on screen throughout, and they got a tiny audience.

The one sad thing about it being on Cup Final day is that we seemingly can't have sports presenters involved in the coverage, which I always like - I remember Matt Smith being part of ITV's coverage of William and Kate's wedding. It reminds me a bit of the Golden Jubilee in 2002 during the World Cup, and Trevor McDonald welcoming viewers to ITV's coverage "on this World Cup and Jubilee Bank Holiday!".

The Fa cup only really uses the BBC Football presenters so non Football presenters could appear.

Being FA Cup weekend means that the domestic season will have finished, so there will be half a dozen or so large OB trucks which would have been a bit busier the previous weekend.

I'm sure Ore Oduba will be involved in the BBC's wedding coverage in some capacity

I remember the Radio Times article on Charles and Camilla's wedding said that one of the OB trucks had to leave immediately after the ceremony to go to Middlesbrough for Match of the Day. I don't know how they coped when it was delayed 24 hours.

Seen a promo on Sky tonight for The Royal Wedding on 19th May. Worth noting it is being shown on both Sky News and Sky One.

It's been shown for at least the last fortnight.
