The BBC really don't help themselves on days like this using so many different people to report on 1 story.

Is this the first time that Huw Edwards has stayed on air on the News Channel while someone else is reading the news on BBC1?

It does seem that the news was known about prior and embargoed. The documentary currently airing on BBC1 with Kirsty Young has many of the interviewees commenting on how happy they are engaged, and it does seem to be a very well prepared documentary.
Therefore this was probably known about weeks in advance, probably around the time that the rumours were circulating a few weeks back.

Caught the end. Kirsty Young looked like she was dressed for a funeral, rather than a wedding !
Perhaps she recorded pieces to camera at the same time, for certain other future programmes !

Although we didn't get a day off for Charles's second wedding either, it was a Saturday though I think
Scrooges? Fact is, Harry is now behind Charles, William, George, Charlotte, and Kate's unborn third child in the line of succession. He won't be king, and that's why his wedding doesn't justify a day off work like William's did.
