Prince Charles is nothing but a monkey! A total idiot! Nicholas Whitchell is by far one of tv's best royal correspondents and Charles ought to have the balls to apologise.

I've met Nick several times. He and Jill Dando were responsible for my doing 2 weeks work experience at Breakfast many moons ago. A charming man, totally dedicated to his work and undeserved of such silyl comments, especially from the heir to the throne. Yet another reason why it should pass Charles and go straight to Wills.

Sure, he's entitled to express his opinion, but in the right place and at the right time. Serves him right if you ask me. BAFOON!

Well, I may as well join in.

I caught this on the ITV Evening News. I bet they're loving rubbing Nick Witchell's face in it! Laughing

Poor Nick.
I agree that Charles is becoming a miserable prat just like his father! Mad

Newsroom, how did you go about getting work experience at the BBC?

Ahh - my first post, and I can devote it to Witchell. He is a dreadful reporter, melodramatic and with nothing to say. I can't back this up in any way, but I truly dislike him.

Looks like Charlie might get another chance to vent his spleen...

I am 31 mate, so it was a long time ago. I wrote to Jill and Fiona Foster and they asked me in. It was much easier then.

Sky News's report on it was great - they just let the footage roll pretty much uninterrupted for 2 minutes.
I cannot believe either that Charles didn't know the mics were up close - his voice when answering their questions was almost at exactly the same level as his mutterings! What was he thinking - unless it was deliberate...

Nick had no comment to make to Sky afterwards walking away from 'the scene' - just remarked "I think I've said enough" Smile

I like Nick - sometimes has a whiff of pompousity alright but still - his camera deliverance is superb, makes up for anything Smile

Nick subsequently appeared doing a voiceover on one of the Papal reports. I know that he is both Royal Correspondent and Diplomatic Correspondent, but does the BBC use him for other specials too? We don't oft see him on BBC World screens. Does he still occasionally newscast?

I've never seen Nick on specials unrelated to the Royals recently (though I may be wrong). And, no, he doesn't read the news anymore (as far as I know).
