BBC was a letdown. Reusing the titles... that's not a problem in itself, just that I didn't really think much of them the first time round. Kept cutting between the good quality 16:9 stuff and the appallingly bad 4:3 cameras, commentary over too much stuff and when trying to sound all noble just sounded annoying and too much as if they were reading off a script.

Really disappointed with the BBC's coverage today. Poor quality cameras and feeds, too many commentators and reporters (as with the election night programme) with each of them speaking over each other and, indeed, over the ceremony itself. It seems as though the BBC is being far too ambitious in its coverage of these big occasions of late and it nearly always has a negative impact upon the coverage. On election night, ITN had a much tighter operation and was my preference. For the inauguration, both Sky News and Fox News have been excellent and I've been flicking between the two all afternoon and evening. In terms of bulletins, Channel 4 News was by far the best.

How are the poor folk at Fox News coping. I guess they'd be treating today's crowds at Washington as 2m people coming out to say goodbye to the much loved George W.
I got fed up of waiting for the parade, but agree with the majority here that Sky seem to have a much better operation - it just looks alot better and slicker. It's a shame though that ITN didn't get a chance today to show what it could do (in terms of covering it live), and although I'm firmly against C4 picking up all the PSB responsibilities ITV can't be arsed with anymore, I think if they had covered the main event live they'd have been the channel of choice for many people here, and their bulletins on both C4 and More4 (which Jon Snow also fronted) were excellent.
We've touched on the US news networks but I guess the main networks all had their big guns out too. Did FOX screen it live, or do they leave all that to their news channel?

I can't believe how good the picture quality is on Sky, and how bad it is on the BBC.
I've seen worse pictures live from Central London from Sky. This could be coming from the Sky News car park!

Shep anchored coverage for the FOX network
EDIT: CBS had the amazing Katie Couric - who, by the way, will anchor a 10 HOUR MARATHON today. I guess that's why she's worth so much.
I guess Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopolous (sp?) are on for abc.
Somebody asked whether CNN were outside - yes, they were. Anderson and Wolf have been outside most of the weekend too anchoring live coverage. They are on a position on top of the 'Newseum' which is on the route between the White House and the capitol.

Should probably go to Google before I ask the question here, but I've found this:
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/tv/la-na-inaug-tv19-2009jan19,0,3958715.story
Doesn't look like Fox itself had anything - they probably left it up to local affiliates to decide what to do.
ABC, CBS and NBC all seemed to have coverage from 7am to 2pm, with an hour long evening bulletin and then a further news special during primetime, with ABC dedicating the whole of primetime to the event, two hours of which cover the Inauguration Ball.
Do we know if ABC World News and CBS News is screening on BBC/Sky tonight? They both seem to have a nasty habit of replacing them with something of their own on days where an American angle would be quite interesting.
Also quite interestingly, how Obama being sworn in as President brings one of last years biggest stories to an end, and how it affects the US news networks:

Fox News has actually been very good today and they haven't dwelled on Bush all that much.

Presumably they were taking the HD feed this afternoon as it was widescreen. Perhaps that isn't available to them now the BBC's HD coverage has finished?

I think the pool feed going into the Washington bureau is 4:3 - the EBU feed arriving in London is definitely 16:9.
