It's certainly a big day. Apparently even at 5.30am (US time) reporters were already having trouble getting into the mall.

Yer, watching Good Morning America - Sam Champion (weather presenter) couldn't get into the mall until 8am/8:30am ET, so he had to present the weather via his mobile.

Although did they just miss the Bidens and Obama's entering The White House? It was 'live' on Sky and the BBC, didn't see it on CNN

On the news channels yes of course, I can't remember if the last 2 were carried on the main channels, I suspect 2001's would have been but not 2005's

No CNN had it alright. I've got CNN on my TV and BBC World on my live station. BBC One joins at 4pm Is this normal for an US Presidential inauguration to be carried on UK television?

Might be worth a mention that Sky News have a very very nice stream. Seems to be using the same awesome adaptive-bitrate stuff the DNC coverage had - I'm getting a ~2.3Mb/s feed ATM - not sure about the res though - could it really be 720p?
