I've got the Fire Stick at the ready for streaming the US Networks direct to the TV. I'll most likely have ITV on in on the background. If Tom Bradby is in America, makes me wonder if ITV are going out on their own this time around and not throwing to NBC every now and again.

Have Sky sent all their anchors to New York? I love that.

Looking at the US schedule, it appears FOX will be simulcasting with the Fox News Channel from 11pm GMT. CBS and NBC also have election specials.

How come the results are announced during our overnight, just like ours are, despite the U.S. being 5-8 hours behind?

They have 'early voting' up to 4 weeks before, and also have electronic or mechanised voting for many other areas (remember the 'hanging chads' of Florida?).

The counting is a lot quicker than in the UK for those reasons.

Polls also close in most states at 7pm rather than 10pm as in the UK.

I have to hand tonight. Zattoo Switzerland and USTV Now. So have access to the US networks, CNNi, Euronews (Eng/Fr), France 24 (Eng/Fr), Deutsche Welle (Eng), the French, German and Italian channels, plus Freeview for the NC, ITV, RT and AJE and the Sky News app on the NOW TV Smart Box for Sky News. I think I'm well prepared! Very Happy

Networks will also call the result for a state based on partial results if they are confident of it, whereas in the UK we don't have any real reliable indication of results for a constituency until announced by the returning officer.

So what state then is the equivalent to Sunderland North? Who is usually the first to declare?

I did (sadly) look into this at the weekend, and most close at either 7 or 8pm. NY state is latest on the west coast as closing at 9pm their time. Much earlier than in the UK.

RTE's coverage will have Bryan Dobson, Richard Downes, Robert Shortt & probably Catriona Perry live from Washington at 11:25pm.

RTE also have a guide to the timing of the US Election results here

ITV have ditched NBC's music that they've previously used in the past for something that sounds like is was flung together in a couple of minutes on a DAW.
