Interesting rumblings that Murdoch may now be increasingly embarassed by the Fox News he created. He's trying to be taken seriously in the US heavyweight newspaper arena - and may have to distance himself from Faux News to appear credible.

Apparently he has already brokered a calming of relations between Fox News (and Roger Aisles - sp?) and Barack Obama and his team.

Presumably even Fox realises that the Democrats are in much better shape this time round than last time - and have to cover the Democratic Convention this time as Obama could conceivably be the next president.

He doesn't like to back a loser, in the same way that the News International papers all changed their allegiance to Labour and championing Tony Blair once it became obvious that they were going to win in 1997.

There's no way that Fox News will change allegence on Nov the 5th if the election doesn't go their way but I'd have thought they'd be a lot more sympathetic to the dems

Interesting that after months of being a lone voice against the tide of the overwhelmingly liberal media in the US Fox News is at last
being joined by other broadcasters in asking serious questions about the Obama campaign.
And all because an unknown politician from the most isolated state in America stalled his campaign with a brilliant speech of her own.
Oh how I wish there was a little right-wing bias in British broadcasting to even out the coverage.

They are? It seems to me that the focus has gone off the Democrats and moved onto Mccain and his bizarre choice of running mate!

OT, but you think that was a brilliant speech? It would have been nice if either of them had actually said what they wanted to do, instead of just bashing the other side.

Jon Stewart did an excellent, (and brilliantly researched) routine about Mccains speech last week: http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=184111

Or ITV News. Their coverage is almost Daily Bile in its tone.

A little information on who will be where for Sky News:

Jeremy Thompson - New York
Andrew Wilson - Florida
Dermot Murnaghan - Chicago
Anna Botting - San Francisco
Michelle Clifford - Chicago (Obama HQ)
Robert Nisbet - Phoenix, Arizona (McCain HQ)

Also, the week before the election, Jeff Randall Live and Sunday Live With Adam Boulton will both be based in the US.

Very interesting line up, although slightly odd that there will be 4 presenters in the States and no one in Washington? Also I would imagine the likes of Keith Graves (there now), Tim Marshall etc will be in America. Where did this info come from- unless I am being blind I cant see it on the Press Office?

I'm not sure much goes on in Washington during the election, it's not like our elections where there is stuff happening in London. I'm sure that they'll have someone in DC but not a lot will be happening there

But by distancing himself increasingly from Faux News - he is able to not back the loser himself...

It's from the November Highlights pdf.

Yeah, I can imagine Tim Marshall & Keith Graves will be involved, perhaps to provide analysis with Jeremy. In the past, they've anchored their coverage from Washington, but this time it'll be coming from New York - perhaps that means they've managed to borrow some studio space from Fox. Not sure.

Is it me or has anyone else had enough of Wolf Blitzer and co repeatedly saying 'The best Political Team on Television.... It's every 5 minutes, so distracting, and hugely annoying.

The Situation Room has become on of my fave programs in the run up to the election, but that phrase has got to go!
