Captivating coverage tonight (World, CNNI, AJE). I was rivetted and astonished at the selection too. However................this will make the campaign all the more rivetting from now to 4th November, and for us news junkies, it will bring together some enthralling coverage, I believe.
Loved Zeinab's interview now on WNT with two young US bloggers who are following the different campaigns from their own perspectives. Zeinab Badawi is a heck of a laid back yet shrewd interviewer, in fact. It was pleasing to see two young men "quivering" just by her mere presence!! LOL. (Perhaps McCain should have chosen her as running mate instead!)

It's astonishing really that the rumour mill didn't start earlier in the afternoon, things gelled around 1420 UK time with many websites reporting the news.
Some broke it as early at 1400, I reported the news breaking on another website at 1424. I really wonder why the UK media waited so long before reporting the story.
Leading US newspaper websites had it definately online by 1500 UK time.

Interesting - France 24 seem to be jumping on the presidential bandwagon more than I thought it would - overall, they are doing more live special report coverage more often, particularly on the EU (probably because of France's already heavy involvement with the European Union, maybe the Government wish this highlighted.)
They had a red aston design with headlines and a "Special Report" DOG for Sarah Biden's confirmation as VP for John McCain, even though it was more of a live coverage affair, it seems France 24 are becoming more of a news channel with live coverage, contrary to the very set schedule which in my opinion has limited the news channel in the past.

Well with Sarkozy as the presedent it doesn't suprise me. He wants to be close to the Americans.

You have a lot to learn about politics.
It is a really interesting twist though isn't it?
Now the experienced McCain has the inexperienced Palin, and the inexperienced (ish) Obama has the experienced Biden.
You've got a black candidate on one team, and a woman on the other.
However Sarah Palin has very strong right-wing credentials (possibly stronger than McCain in some respects) - anti-abortion, has been shooting since she was a girl (though growing up in Alaska this is different to some other states I guess).
It's going to be an interesting race!

It gives a new twist to this exciting race. She is trying to take away some of Hillary's angry voters and she isn't hiding it.
