Incidentally there's some superb quality 'HD' coverage being streamed using Silverlight on the Convention Site.

It is very strange how the Democrats seem to be getting way more attention than the Republicans - especially seeing as they are pretty even in the polls. I'm only a casual observer, yet I know far more about Obama than I do McCain.

Obama is arguably the more interesting candidate and the democratic primary race went on longer (in fact with Hilary still on the scene it still is kind of) and was the more interesting of the 2.

Also I think Obama just makes better TV then Mccain

Oh definately - without a doubt!

Barack is far more telegenic and a handsome man - while John McCain is viewed as an old geezer who would be the 'zimmer frame' commander in chief choice!!

Michelle Obama is the most beautiful person in this presidential race though...she is not only bonnie but brainy and may be Obama's best weapon now that the two are even stevens in the polls. IMO Michelle also seems more carrismatic than Cindy McCain - that may prove useful.

Being the first bi-racial candidate certainly helps Barack Obama and this has more of a fairytale flavour...however, McCain's war veteran background is also credible and plays well to the media hungry.

and so Obama is Candidate, and neither the BBC or Sky were covering the moment.

CNN is showing this live, Wolf, Anderson & the best political team are there doing a great job. I'm happy I've witnessed this historic moment thanks to CNN.

Sky were covering it live, JT was a little too keen to talk over Nancy Pelosi, Adam Bolton had to stop him when it came to the historic moment.

Meanwhile the BBC were in HardTalk.

Does anyone know what music Newsnight are using for the US08 stings, it might be the same for National News as well, it is a catchy bed?

Thanks!

CNN did a convention viewing party live in Times Square last night, of which I was a part. I have to say, sitting in the middle of TS watching CNN on the big Jumbotron, with hundreds of Americans standing around me, some with tears in their eyes, watching Obama's rousing speech. No talk of Clinton, just focus on Obama-Biden. The coverage was simply exceptional and I feel more a part of history than I ever have.

Sarah Palin the VP choice?

No.

My money is still on Tim Pawlenty - who is at his state fair today, the perfect opportunity for a video link-up.

BBC World are the last channel to break the news about Palin... They are running a pre rec and are staying with it, whilst the other networks run with it.

CNNi joined CNN Domestic immediately. Sky ran with it too.

Shocking.

Edit - at 16.46 CET they updated the strap!

Why go out of a program just to announce a tiny peice of news? BBC Worlds breaking news ticker seems to be doing the job just fine.

LOL - Tiny piece of news! It's the news all the networks have been waiting on all day.
