I'm sure CNNI will have CNN US for all the night until the next morning.I wouldn't be suprised if they have it the whole next day.

I will be watching CNN, they had great coverage and the NY set is great with all the touching screens and gadgets.

With the graphics switched on, there does appear to be something of a bottomless pit, as well as a wall that seems to be based on south hall at TVC.

It does look like it, for a minute I thought he was located in the stairwell

Here's some images of the sets for Fox's election coverage: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/fox_cubed_on_election_night_99379.asp

And an interestign thing that's going on in the US is the way that the channels are finding ways to utilise the extra bits of screen that HD is providing.... 'HD Real Estate': http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/nbc/nbc_news_spreads_its_wings_99308.asp#more

Even though we've had 16:9 for 10 years it's not something that anyone's done here, although with 14:9 and Centre Cut out settings on digiboxes it would have been more trouble that it's worth - just look at what happened when the BBC put a clock in the 'wings'

What are ITN/Channel 4 News using to get their pics back from Virginia... Telstar?

It looks awful

Sky News seem to be using Earlybird or Syncom as well...

I suspect that quite a few people have dropped the bitrate on their SNG links so that they can run more in the same space.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good Huw's live point looked on the Ten, and that it was 16:9, as were the main packages (in reasonable quality). Most of the BBC US operation (outside of NY) seems to be 16:9 - with lives and the Washington studio all looking a lot cleaner and sharper than when they were 14:9 crops.

Love the election style on Sky News, using a different bed on the countdown and during the headlines. The voice over- similar to the one on Whitehouse unplugged- names all of the presenters in the US even if they aren't presenting!

Yeah I really liked that, the music sounded great. Lovely titles too and all round impressive coverage from Sky,with the exception of some dodgey stuff from the 'White House' in Miami.

Although Newsnight from Washington was having big problems with aspect ratio - ARcing stuff that didn't need it and not ARCing other stuff that did!

Does anyone know roughly what time we'll know the final result over here? Is it worth staying up until 6 o'clock in the morning?

It would be 1.00am in New York, if it's 6.00am in London, don't forget when it's 6.00am here, it's only 10.00pm in Los Angeles, but I guess at about Breakfast time (UK) most of the results should be coming in.

We should have a good idea by 4am, earlier if either candidate has a significant lead, later if it's much closer than expected.
