On Sunday there is an unusual repeat of Andrew Marr's interview with President Obama on BBC2 at 1730

On Wednesday 25th May there is live coverage of President Obama addressing both Houses of Parliament on BBC1 between 1505 and 1630. CBBC is moved to BBC2, and a rare BBC1 airing of Flog It is planned for 1630

Interesting. Has an American President ever addressed the British Houses of Parliament before? I don't recall so.

Do you think we will see the Burleys, Maitlises, Sopels, Edwards, Austins and Thompsons all out on the College Green again?

Hope no-one has a go at Kay this time. LOL.

Interesting video. What location did they use for the speech?

The Lord Chancellor begins with a welcome to the "Palace of Westminster", but it doesn't look like any room which is normally seen, even during the State Opening of Parliament, and I don't think it's Westminster Hall.

It was the Royal Gallery http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_of_Westminster#Royal_Gallery situated between the Robing Room and the House of Lords. The Queen proceeds through on the way to open parliament

I don't think they send Kay Burley there anymore after last time! There have certainly been opportunities.

The Royal Gallery is used during the State Opening of Parliament.

You didn't recognise it because they take away the furniture and lay a carpet.

That explains it. I knew it had to be a rather large room, just to squeeze in 650 MPs and 789 Lords/Ladies.

Having done abit of 'googling', it appears that the Royal Gallery is actually the biggest room in the gaff! Wink

Thanks to Marcus and Chie for the replies.

This could go in many a thread, but it'll do here - but something which I'm getting unnecessarily irritated about.

With the Primeminister, US President and senior Royal Family UK news reports never use astons to identify them as frankly, they know we know who they are. So shouldn't the same apply to famous landmarks - so annoying seeing news bulletins presented from the likes of Buckingham Palace and Downing Street with a big banner telling us where they are, information already clearly available from the image behind them!

You would probably be amazed at how many people in the UK don't know what or where Downing St. & Buckingham Palace are or what they look like.

I met two people recently who didn't even know where the UK was on a world map. One of them didn't even know what "the UK" actually meant, so I don't think they'd know what/where Downing St. and the Palace were either.
It's sad to see what you're talking about first hand.
