Presenter Rotas. Discuss.

Pointless New Topics. Discuss.

Nice try but if there is a need for this type of discussion to be separated from ongoing threads, there needs to be a better way than some member just creating a new thread.

Short of having a dedicated forum broken up into BBC, ITV, Sky and International, this seems as good an idea as any. Why should people remove their tedious rota discussions and fantasy presenter schedules out of the main threads if there's nowhere for them to then discuss them? I'd rather have a single thread (or forum) dedicated to rota discussions than have to wade through multiple threads in the Newsroom forum discussing who was on when.

I too think that this thread is progress - Taking presenters away from the content and general direction of the news service would be very useful and productive imo.

Agreed. I think this thread is a good idea. To me this is mainly a TV presentation forum and concerned with things like graphics, music, titles, sets etc.

Yes it is occasionally interesting to talk about who's presenting when, but usually if I see that there's a new post in, say, the News 24 thread, and I find it's one saying "oooh, Maxine's doing the 11-1 today", I'll be less interested than if it's one saying "oooh, they've changed the background on this or that graphic".

So I'm for presenter stuff being separated.

I'd prefer it to be shifted to digital spy quite frankly. I despise the whole concept of rota discussion. it's SO DULL.

I don't see discussion of presenters on all channels in the same thread working for long, though.

Discussion of presenter rotas AFTER they've happened, yes on Digital Spew, or somewhere else, similarly designed for bored insomniacs.

Discussion of presenter rotas BEFORE they've occurred ought NOT to be allowed ANYWHERE. Think how the court would have reacted if Jill Dando's rota for the last week had been published in advance on an internet forum.

Separate I can understand people wanting but like Londoner, I don't feel a single separate thread would work. Those who post rota discussions probably want to post it in the apporpriate ongoing thread (ITV News, News 24 ones etc..)

Maybe users should be forced to 'tag' each of their posts with words that sum it up Laughing

Wasn't that Ryan Pannell's idea?

Surely it was most likely published in the Radio Times?! The logical conclusion of that argument is that no listings magazine or EPG should include details of the presenters of any live show, news or otherwise.
