When going to speak to a reporter or a guest, Alastair Yates greets them with a simple "Welcome". I always prefer the presenters who are friendly towards their colleagues, rather than Peter Sissons who IMO is often quite removed from them. As a presenter, I like him, but when he has finished talking to someone he never thanks them. He just turns towards the camera and says who had been reporting.

Ah Alastair Yates - what a lovely man. Everyone's ideal (rather young) grandad Smile

What is it with Daniel Corbett?! He just has a 'thing' that makes him stand out from the crowd.

Is it his bizarre accent? (where's it from?)
Is it the fact that he looks both old and young?
Is it his weird pauses?
Is it his wonderful catchphrase as mentioned?
Is it his his very cool don't-care-what-young-hip-presenters-think-about-me attitude regarding his oldish image?

Whatever it is - he's fantastic!

If you're looking for a particular "thing", I think his key quality must be his enormous enthusiasm. He obviously loves the weather, and he loves telling people about the weather, and that really shines through in his broadcasts.

Although some of the things you've mentioned above might have an impact too!

lol - so true Smile. When he first started presenting, people in my family kept shouting out 'quick, the weird guy's on!' Very Happy

Yes his enthusiasim is infectious - really shines through.
A great presenter, efficient and engaging.

Here's his BBC profile - his accent explained by living in the US for 23 years, and again till recently!:

another one that i cannot articulate in words... Peter Dobbie always has a big grin on his face when he kicks off after outlining the TOTH headlines...

The problem with these eternally grinning presenters is when they have to report on a serious piece of news. My case in point is Richard Quest of CNN - he realises that he is unable to suppress his grin, so responds by furrowing his brow and looking quizzical. Effective yet surely tiring.....and bad for his wrinkles.....
