According to the front page of today's NI edition on the Mirror, UTV presenters and reporters have been order to remove the Poppy from their lapels. Lynda Bryans was told to remove her poppy, while Morticia... sorry Letitia Gwynne was made to re-shoot a piece to camera without the offending flower. On screen "talent" at the station may be allowed to wear them from next week.
I do think that it's absurd that poppies started appearing on TV presenters in October.
Wearing them for perhaps a week at the most including 11 November and Remembrance Sunday is much more appropriate and meaningful.
Yes, let's not give too much of our time to those who lost their lives for us. I get bored of having to watch people wearing them.
Always remember a German girl was in uni near me and ended up coming out round town with me & some mates. She asked (and you have to do an over the top German accent for this), "Why are you wearing those stupid flowers?". She was quite embarrased when we told her.

Don't be absurd. Of course that's not what I mean. But IMO the impact of the two days when a silence is observed and wreath-laying ceremonies and services take place (Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday) is lessened by the rather fake sincerity of the enforced poppy wearing by politicians and TV presenters/reporters between late October and mid-November.
I've always thought that the decision to wear a poppy or not in front of the camera, should be with the presenter, not the company he or she works for.
1. When presenting the bulletins from the continuity studio with a green backdrop, the leaf and the tail of the poppy become transparent (ITN videowall designers take note!)
2. The P word...
And is Letitia's surname Gwynne (as in Nell) or Quinn? It's still Fitzpatrick on her profile on the UTV website

Yup. It took me a few moments to work out why Steve Scott's poppy had a blue stalk the other day!
The BBC presenters seem to have started wearing poppies from Sat 30th Oct - and you'll notice that the One and Six presenters have two different styles of poppy.
They wear one with a green-leaf when presenting on the main set, but have just a red one without the leaf for the CSO summaries opsition (which is keyed from CSO green)
I notice ITV have lots of grey leaves on their main "Theatre of News!" studio - presumably a result of Ultimatte or similar hue-suppression used to remove green fringing etc.

Yes, but a tv presenter is representing a company and not himself, especially a newsreader who is impartial and whose personal views are not ment to come across. If a tv company decides to support the appeal then surely each presenter should follow that... they dont have to in their private life afterall.
