Why are they referring to themselves in the third person? Confused Sure they could have thought of better text than that.

'Fox News Confirms Pope John Paul II Has Died'

What did they do, have Geraldo Riviera run up there with a stethoscope?

Bit of a faux pas by Caroline Quinn there, confirming that Tony Blair's seeing the Queen Monday morning and calling the election Monday afternoon, eh?

I think that embargo's just gone west!

Amazing that CNN International manages to have the most cluttered and complicated mess of graphics, whilst CNN America manages the most tasteful and simplest of them all.

Bizarre, really, that CNNI's current set were very smart when they launched and the basis on which the CNN US graphics are based. Their coverage, however, has been dire.

Out of the US Networks, CBS, NBC & ABC are very tasteful, MSNBC is god awful, but their graphics have been bad for a while, Fox just sucks.

The BBC has far too many recorded inserts into their coverage and isn't dealing with actuality reportage.

Agreed.

Seems like the Beeb have lined up so many reports that they just can't wait to shell them all out at the expense of covering things.

It's a little like September 11 (a very, very little) when BBC One had a Panorama special on the night; I remember someone pointing out at the time that it was just too soon for analysis and people still just wanted to see how people were reacting.

I bet the broadcasters are glad to get it out of the way, though. They can keep everyone there tomorrow, and rush them back Sunday night to cover the election call on Monday, then it's his funeral (4-6 days?) and then it's Charles and Camilla, then back to the election!

Just been watching NBC's news special via the MSNBC website. Their graphics were probably the most sombre - the sort of thing I expected from more of the channels.

I have to say that Sky's graphics are truly apalling - the lowest of the low. A real shame that Jeremy Thompson's excellent coverage is being spoiled by gutter tabloidism.

On second thoughts, that's an insult to the tabloids. I doubt even the Daily Star would have 'POPE DEATH' in massive red-on-white letters.

I was surprised they didn't carry the President live. Is N24 and World simulcasting?
