Nobody expects a Spanish Deputy Cardinal!

I reckon Ol' Popey's taken a greater turn for the worse than expected, and that's why they've delayed the press briefing.

Simon McCoy's just said that the "Pope's heart is still holding out."

I reckon Simon is doing a brilliant job. This is where his talent is truly being shown: he's a truly excellent presenter.

I would think so

Sky's use of presenter on the street in Rome I don't think works - too distracting as a backdrop - not to mention the audio problems, including the presenter's own ability to hear their earpiece...

Again here in Ireland I think it's safe to say that the approach being taken is quite different - presenters are as sombre and glum as one can imagine.
The opening shot of our Six News (currently on) was quite bizarre - three newsreaders (one sport) all lined up dressed in jet black - it's like a funeral Sad
There is a strong emphasis on local masses etc.

There also isn't the almost patronising 'what are Catholics thinking' kind of stuff that the UK is at times indulging in. There is an assumption taken here that all viewers here 'just know' everything. It's somewhat similar to coverage of the EU - it is assumed here generally that people know what's going on, and know about the EU etc, whereas the UK's coverage is always much more patronising - 'spell-it-out for all you Eurosceptics out there' kind of coverage.

Interesting to note the differences.

Perhaps, but you have to remember the Republic is predominantly Catholic whereas Britain (the mainland rather than Northern Ireland, lets not go there today) probably has as many, if not more, Muslims than Catholics - hence the slightly detatched coverage.

My point exactly - just noting the differences
