Listening to the Huw Edwards sound on BBC One News at Ten was awful whereas it didnt seem as bad on the BBC News 24 simulcast!

Pope lost conssioness (sp sorry!) and no statment yet either....

Very odd that for a statement described by some media organisations as 'imminent', fails to materialise more than two hours afterwards and still counting!

The sound for for Ten was quite bad alright - very windy.
See they put a large windshield on Huw's mic that reduced the problem somewhat.

That interview (pictured above) was a poor piece of production unfortunately - although they did have difficulties with just one camera but it still could've been composed better.
The sound wasn't helped by the wind coming from directly behind both of them - the audio got noticably better every time Huw turned back around to the camera.

I woke up at bang on 6' o clock, and caught the Ballet ident - The last time I saw that was when the Queen Mother died, so I wasn't sure if he had passed away...In any case I guess that the end is close now.

Was travelling on business yesterday, and the hotel that I stayed in didn't have my normal BBC World preferred channel. Had to watch Sky News instead. I have to say their coverage has been excellent.

A very imposing and memorable opening shot on Live at Five, with Thompson in Rome and Botting in Krakow, in a way that only Sky can do.

A statement is due from the Vatican in about half an hour. There is a live video feed to it on the right side of the BBC News homepage. At the moment is just a message with a background tune.

Popes condition is still the same, the Vatican spokesman has just said.

I think perhaps this will be the last time they interview a woman with pebble-lens glasses who can't see the autocue monitor Razz...

I think she's more interested in what Dermot's got hiding behind that piece of paper!

I'm sorry if what I'm asking offends anyone here, but I was just wondering what people thought we might see when the news breaks... A still ident, A "News Report" caption or in the case of BBC ONE, the Ballet Ident?

Why are the news channels still doing blanket coverage of this? Nothing has happpened since last night.

The pope is still 'losing conciousness' as he was at 6pm last night and The Vatican are still not saying anything tangible or useful.

The only change to the situation was when it was reported he had dies.... and that was wrong

If it happens during Grandstand they'll most likely just hand over to the news studio

That's not a shame at all... BBC World did not provide any continuing coverage, the news was continuously interrupted by programmes such as Hardtalk Extra, Speed or Secrets of the Antarctica, almost no live coverage from St. Peter Square. Awful.
