Neither Sky nor the BBC will flash with "Pope John Paul II has died" until the Vatican brief both RAI and one of the international news wire organisations.

Only then will programming on network TV be interupted.

Cool, we have someone that works at network centre!

BBC won't flash even when it is finally confirmed. All very sombre and understated with small text and no 'breaking news' astons

Who works at network centre? Not me.

Just common sense (and not the Neil Cavuto **** common sense)

Ah sorry, the way it was posted was as if you knew how the BBC and SKY intended to break the news rather than just an educated guess of what YOU think they SHOULD do!

Quote from Reuters:
Contradictory Italian media reports on Pope health
VATICAN CITY, April 1 (Reuters) - Italian media gave
contradictory reports about Pope John Paul's vital signs on
Friday, first saying his heart and brain activity had stopped
and then reporting this was not true.
There was no official comment from the Vatican.
The first reports, picked up by the state broadcaster RAI,
said his electrocardiogram had gone flat. The ADNkronos news
agency said monitoring showed his brain activity had halted.
But Sky Italia television later quoted Vatican sources
saying both his brain and heart were still functioning.

No, I was watching Raisat News 24 (the rolling news channel of RAI) and they said the pope was dead ACCORDING TO A RUSSIAN NEWS AGENCY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE (??!!??!!). Because of this agency many Italian medias (but Sky Italia) reported the pope as dead

What's the problem? These things are often shrouded in confusion and rumour. It goes with the territory.

TASS, who I assume you're referring to, were quoting the Italian Agency ADN Kronos at 1934BST, not the other way around
