We've just receieved unconfirmed reports that the Pope died earlier this morning. Like I said this is wholly unconfirmed and very likly not correct.

It wouldn't surprise me at all... I think the Vatican is trying to break the news gently.

No channel. One of our reporters at our sister paper The Wrexham Evening Leader is claiming he's spoken to "senior sources".
Im greeting this with mixed attitudes. Like I said this is wholy unconfirmed, however another interesting peice is on www.stuarthughes.blogspot.com The author states that the same rumours are circulating.

Needless to say, there are mounting unconfirmed and increasingly authoritative rumours here in the newsroom from Catholic sources that the Pope has already died.
None of these can be confirmed -- but a Vatican statement is expected shortly.

If these rumours are true, why would the doctors et al hold a press conference this morning saying one thing, only to then go on and say something to the contrary within a few hours?

Your sister newspaper is The Wrexham Afternoon Times, perhaps?

Is this an exclusive for The Wrexham Evening Leader?

How many Catholics live in Wrexham, then?! Rolling Eyes

Like it.
I don't personally known the reporter but my editor says he's a bit of an morron. I would like to know myself who he's spoken to because bar a local church leader I can't think of any "serior sources" in North Wales.
