Why don't you have a nice cup of tea and a lie down, Moz.

Sky News Today is being done by Allan King (who was there yesterday) and Emma Crosby (who was not).

Does rather suggest that Etchingham has been shipped off to the Vatican.

I thought Etchingham didn't do SNT on Fridays anyway because of her Five News duties?

Yes, but can you really see the Sky bosses sitting around and knowing that he's about to die and deciding to put Emma Crosby on as their key presenter.

Martin Stanford is in Rome now, so at least one of them is there.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Kay Burley and Jeremy Thompson there for their respective time slots.

Have any of the other news channels got anyone presenting from Rome yet? After their slowness after the tsunami, i would have thought N24 would have wanted to be quicker off the mark for the next major news event.

I went to bed with Newsnights excellent coverage of the then breaking story. Kirsty was rather good with the story, with continual updates. I presume we'll have a special report, much the same as when the Queen Mother died, or will it be a News24 simulcast this time?
It now looks like the Pope is in a far more serious situation.

The BBC have installed Jeremy Bowen as their Rome Correspondent. One presumes this is because he is a senior correspondent trusted to delevier the news of any developments in a manner inkeeping with the tone of the event.
Has any more been sent out, from channel hopping it appeared that BBC News were the only one to have a correspondent based in Vatican City

I take it, now the Pope's condition is getting worse, if he does die within the next few days, will there be a special news report that will be on for the rest of the day on BBC1? Would the format be like previous big breaking news stories such as the deaths of Princess Margaret & The Queen Mother & the September 11th terrorist attacks.

I dont really want to reply to this topic. but i am. I don't understand why all you guys are so worried to weather or not he dies.. I mean i'm a catholic but do i care?? no! he can die for all I know. What good has he done to this world? Nothing! so why dont you just accept the fact that he will be dead within the next 2-4 days. (I hope so)
A person who has been touched by this man will be hurt and as for many who have experienced one of his masses too, but deep down inside most of probably dont care.

Thats just my opinion... When he dies he dies... nothing is going to change in the world.

I doubt it. This is not a Catholic country it is a Protestant one. There will probably be a news report, or anything up to an hour simulcast with N24, and then that'll be it.

Well perhaps he rallied enough support in Poland to eventually cause enough unrest which brought the downfall of communist in Poland, leading to the rest of Eastern Europe and the end of the iron curtian... is that nothing? You may not realise how influencial the Pope has been in this.

Well all I really wanted to say was "I'm catholic and dont really care if the Pope dies or not and that I do find all the coverage on him very fascinating" Ive watched it alot today on BBC World

I am in Italy at the moment and most of the tv stations out here are going all out on the Pope.

It is a big story, they reckon that he is the closet man to god, not my opinion, so I no doubt the media will be going full wack with its coverage.

wonder if we get a five/sky similucast?
