The Vatican website, unsurprisingly, has melted down ...

Either way, they started off with 'let's not speculate here, but I suppose what might happen is...' and it's got worse from then on.

I'd just pay if they get rid of the BREAKING NEWS lots of space here LIVE strap at the top of the screen. Badly framed camera shot underneath.

Yes, because a man with advance Parkinson's, on a feeding tube, and a white blood cell count lower than absolute zero is up to a daily routine.

Isn't he running the London Marathon, then?

Apparently not. I know he was planning to run dressed as Notre Dame Cathedral, but they couldn't get the ventilation right.

CNN used to be quite sensible with graphics, but by god there's enough red on there to attract snakes, it's awful. Sky are getting into their stride now - bit slow off the mark on it - News 24 are in HardTalk and CNN are still banging on. Will be interesting to see whether Sky continue doubled-headed after midnight.

Agreed. I would imagine if they do they are expecting the worst.

Well I remember reading on the Guardian site how The Burley was dressed in black at a party the last time they thought he was out of here, so presumably she's doing her make up.

Would be quite surprised if they announced it now, though. It's approaching 1am there, and I expect they'd probably wait a few hours until the morning - if he actually is dead! - before anything is announced.

Give him a Strepsil and he'll be fine.

Hehe - I wouldn't be surprised if they waited. They have to go through quite a polava to confirm his death. One of his cardinals has to call out his name three times, and then have to tell the diocese of Rome ... search on Google, all an interesting read, considering the situation.

I thought that was just a special programme on Italian state radio, rather than an 'official' update?

That's not how Jeremy Bowen put it ...

Such events are often known by news outlets before officially announced.... or they have a pretty good idea what is going on.

It's only a matter of time till he passes away and if last rites have been administered then....
