How are the networks covering this. Only have access to World and they have not broken the news yet??

EDIT - ITV News just mentioned it during the news at 10.30.

ITV News broke the news about 10.20, quoting Sky Italia.

Covered briefly by Mark Austin 10 minutes into the 10.30 news.

Sky have spoken to an Italian journalist to talk through the background.

News 24 mentioned it at about 10.25. They now have a Pope ticker going during Business Today.

Will watch World now.

They are showing a programme, not exactly putting news first are they. Rolling Eyes

Well beyond "Pope rushed to hospital" there is hardly a lot to say at this stage is there, aside from the inevitable speculation and rehashing of past papal illnesses?

Now confirmed by the Vatican

I note that when the News 24 Pope Ticker first appeared, it was the standard orange colour directly underneath the tower, but halfway through Business Today it changed to a more 'sombre' black/red affair Wink.

EDIT: The 23:00 TOTH on N24 is clearly being Ad-libbed by Steven Cole. Infact, the pace he's talking and the things he's talking about, it's almost like a pre-mortem obitury Embarassed

DOUBLE EDIT: And the Pope Ticker is now a completely black affair Rolling Eyes

I hope the channels don't go overboard with the obit-style coverage now, only for him to recover and carry on for many more months/years.

[That sounds wrong but you know what I mean]

As Hazzamon suggested, people seem to be launching into fulsome tributes a little prematurely.

On ITV News they're already talking in the past tense...

Strange camera angle on N24 during an interview, they had a shot of almost behind Steven Cole facing the interview as if the camera was round the other side of the desk.

Steven Cole looks to be struggling with not a lot to go on at the moment.

the News 24 Pope Ticker

So, are we to expect the Pope Ticker to stop at the same time as the Pope's ticker stops?

(Cue string of complaints about insensivity!)

Good job it's not called a rocker, otherwise they'd have had to stop using it years ago Razz

Why was he rushed to hospital? What is wrong with him? Anyone know?
