How EXACTLY does quoting one days ratings against my one days ratings prove a thing? I'm more than happy to banter but really, can we raise the game a bit?

BTW, should I be looking out for you in a 'I Love our BBC' badge @ Whiteladies Road tomorrow? I do hope a good turnout will show...or will the poor 'at risk' dears be ramming themselves into their people carriers and using it as an excuse for a long lunch in the village?

Hahah - we'll see. I might go and watch.

Raising the game ... well, I thought I'd dispell your 'our rating are nearly as high' myth with my own. Hey, we could quote stats until the cows come home. Like I said, it's all lies, damned lies and statistics. To be honest, I couldn't resist having another dig.

You were saying a few days ago , what do statistics prove and then produce one days figures as some definitive answer after saying they're meaningless???

Sorry, Mizz. I was just having a little dig at Gary, that's all. It's just a bit of fun - don't worry about it.

Hard to inject humour in text. Just remember, the majority of what I type here, I've got my typing fingers firmly in my cheek.

Erm ...

sort of.

I see they are advertising Susan Osman's job ( well I take it, that it is her job ) on the BBC Jobs website.

Usually, job adverts tell you what expected of the candidate, with a bit of context. The PW presenter role tells you LOTS about how *great* the place is and look at us we're great managers ... Do people fall for this 'worse than new labour spin' bull?

I note that in the whole overlong trumpet blowing preamble, the local news service is not mentioned ONCE.

Quote:
A Bristol is also the home for the Nations and Regions’ best practice SON&R Centre. It brings people together from programme teams across the division to share ideas, build confidence and leave (hopefully) feeling inspired and motivated. It has a strong virtual, as well as the physical, presence. Points West plays a lead role in supporting the life of the centre

And this, in English is? Im guessing a room and a website?

In BBC speak, should TV FORUM now be referred to as a geographically, demographically and ethnically diverce diverse collective discussing key brand communication devices (both audio and visual) in a motion format, in the context of popular Broadcasting and communication. Disseminating strategic information of relevance to its participants through a multi participation, gender identity neutral virtual platform?

15% Cuts to the BBC? Not looking too much now is it?

It's the same bland marketing patter that's used by every major employer in the country, especially in high profile jobs. Take a look at ads for Glaxosmithkline, Gilette, Samsung, Microsoft, even the likes of Sky and Transport for London - particularly in the upper echelons of employment - and you'll see much the same kind of gushing about the company, and very little specificity towards the actual job description.

And I'm struggling to understand how a bout of textual diarrhoea undermines 15% cuts in spending.

Certainly it doesn't wash with what is happening at Bristol.
If it's such a great place to work, how come the majority of people in the newsroom say it's a miserable hole that desperately needs some proper leadership rather than the 2-headed gargoyle currently in situ?

So they really havn't chosen a new presenter yet? I thought they would have already selected someone from the existing team ( or one of the new reporters.)

It's a slightly interesting matter thinking who will be the next presenter on pw.
