Saw a shot of the Bristol newsroom on Working Lunch earlier and the work on the floor seems to have created what looks like a large area of roadworks in the middle of the newsroom Smile

This thread was about Susan Osman's departure from BBC Bristol, and included speculation about her next move(s). Possible activities involving doilies were interesting, even faintly amusing. This drift to discussion about the development of a studio floor does not seem relevant, while the playground squabble that preceded this is surely better taken elsewhere (will you confirm, Mr Moderator?). So, revenons a nous moutons - does anyone know what has happened to Ms. Osman, and did she jump, or was she pushed? Maybe Master Hanson can ask his friend Master Osman.

Actually the thread is now called "Points West - Changes", so I think you'll find that this digression into other related topics is perfectly acceptable.

Chris has just announced that Susan's leaving tomorrow for "pastures new." Wonder what she'll be doing next... and I presume that Amanda will now be the main female presenter? Razz

This is the first post. However, as I am new to this, I stand corrected.

Should I start a new thread, then, and leave you chaps to discussing the colour of sofas, ratings and the state of the studio floor?

Because I am sure that there are people who know what has happened to Ms Osman, and I am curious to know what happened - she is usually good at self-disclosure, and has a good rapport with her fans, so her abrupt disappearance is somewhat of a mystery.

I wouldn't.

Members have already talked about said subject, and this thread has moved on from being a Susan discussion to being a PW discusssion.

I'm sure if anyone wants to know about Susan they'll have the intelligence to look in this thread.

For those of you interested in the real story behind Susan there will be a news special on http://www.hmgnnews.co.uk/ in the near future.

This show will be followed by an informative film on ways to protect furniture from hot drinks.

Out of interest, if we're going to follow GaryC's rather flawed audience arguements over Points West v HTV - last night the audience for PW was almost double that of the ITV rival.

Any comeback on that, Gary?

Ah an name check..i'm honored....Sorry, I thought i made it clear that i was not arguing the ratings merits of each news show, just giving a background to ITV west's position being better than two viewers!

PW does well on a Monday as a general rule. As does BBC One sub-prime (17:00 -19:00) on that day in most southern regions - one of those audience flow quirks.

'An name check'? A name check. And I don't quite understand why you're 'honoured' about this? All I did was say your name. Do you think you're famous, or something?

Either way, I still say your analysis was rubbish - and I've proven it.

How EXACTLY does quoting one days ratings against my one days ratings prove a thing? I'm more than happy to banter but really, can we raise the game a bit?

BTW, should I be looking out for you in a 'I Love our BBC' badge @ Whiteladies Road tomorrow? I do hope a good turnout will show...or will the poor 'at risk' dears be ramming themselves into their people carriers and using it as an excuse for a long lunch in the village?

I only caught the last five minutes of PW today, why was Chris on his own? Where was that stroppy bint with face like thunder?

By the way I think the lovely Fanny (Ali) Vowels would make a great replacement for the late Ms Osman, she has that ex-HTV West CA feel about her. LOL!

Bloomin' car park's going to be full tomorrow, Bruce.

You were saying a few days ago , what do statistics prove and then produce one days figures as some definitive answer after saying they're meaningless???

Thanks for your answering post about the tv figures, but i'm more interested in some figures for viewers over the past few years. Probably they do not exist or are available in the public domain. Tiny viewing figures for local news doesnt have much value.
