I was just *alerted* to this by the BBC election update Peter Snow thing. However the *news* it gave me is entirely pointless. Tony Blair’s plane hit by lightning, but is perfectly fine. Well it's not a story then is it!?

Whets more the story itself contains two paragraphs on the subject, so why bother at all: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/vote_2005/frontpage/4490809.stm

This seems to be happening more and more recently, next no doubt it'll be "BREAKING NEWS: Man trips up, but he's perfectly ok and hardly fell at all"

I saw a news 24 breaking news strap that stated 'price of 1st class stamp to rise' .. hardly earth shattering..

It is a particularly quiet news day. Which is odd, given that there is a General Election next week. Mind you, that's such a dull campaign, does anyone care about it at all?

lol! This story has just been featured on the ITV Evening News - wonder what that says about ITVs judgement of 'news'? Very Happy

What amused me about that was that the package I heard a couple of hours ago felt the need to mention Michael Howard's helicopter also had a difficult flight due to "lightning nearby" - as if it would have been going against the Representation of the People's Act not to involve him in the story somehow....

You may scoff, but I guarantee it'll be one of the most read stories on News Online tomorrow.

That would suggest their judgement of news is the same as that of Radio 4 who ran the story in their Six O' Clock News yesterday as well.

It has now made the front page on the discovery that the spider, "which is known for its speed and aggression", was *accidentally released into the hospital grounds* afterwards!
