BBC News Report on BBC1 just now. The news channels have been covering this for the last couple of hours, Sky and ITV were covering it when I first switched on, then BBC News 24 shortly after. News 24 used a two-line aston for a bit, and bought the red ticker out later.

Nothing on ITV1 yet. Might have something during the break or after SNT.

Yes, News Report with Darren straight after Doctor Who. I thought it was The Pope at first. Confused

Yeah interesting that there were a couple of junctions that they could have done the News Report on BBC One but I assume it wasn't felt big enough to interupt the two big new Saturday night BBC One shows - gives the audience a chance to flick channels - especially a younger audience who probably don't know who Callaghan is.

Remember Easter Saturday a few years ago, when a big heavilly promoted schedule had to be torn up

I'm not sure if you're joking but the Queen Mother died on 30th March 2002, the second day into the BBC ONE new look.
Interesting intro - a programme slide of BBC News with an announcer. I guess this replaces static idents.

Didn't see the News Report - was Darren Jordon's tie of a satisfactory colour?

Put The Telly On
It was red

(I don't know)

Speaking of ties, a certain Liverpudlian newsreader came under fire for inappropriate neckwear that day....
