Here are some interesting videos I've just found - probably one of the only times Peter ever presented from BBC World. This was a joint weekend in October 2003 in the run up to the December 2003 relaunch of BBC News 24 and BBC World. The end of the bulletin features one of Sissons' trademark cock-ups during his 24-hour news days!

Interesting in those videos when he was simulcasting with World he was flawless, yet as soon as News 24 went its own way that's when it started going wrong for him.

Well isn't World more a case of a bulletin every hour rather than rolling news?

Yes, certainly in those days BBC World bulletins were on the hour for up to about 25 minutes. In the examples shown above on the "joint weekend", there was an opt out point for BBC World, after which he was then presenting only on BBC News 24. I think Rolling News meant Peter seemed to be OK during the joint bits, but as soon as World viewers left, he started struggling.

EMT? East Midlands Today?

Considering the first line is 'welcome to election call from nottingham' that would seem to make sense...

Ahh, not in a position to actually watch the video at the moment.

Here's Peter doing a live trail for the Ten from the newsroom. It's interesting that they did this specifically for BBC Two viewers. Did they do one in the junction on BBC One leading up to the programme shown before the news?

Yes they did, I doubt they were done live though.

I did doubt that, was just going from the video description though.

So, Peter Sissons has the distinction of presenting the final Nine prior to the arrival of "drumbeat & pips (mk1)", and also presenting the final ever Nine?! I never knew that.

I liked his clever closing words on the latter: "And that is, or rather was , the 9 o'clock news..." (then explaining that the programme would now be at 10pm from Monday).

The video by Owen_ploc was the Sunday late bulletin. The final Nine in the Virtual Studio was presented by Peter in the studio, with Michael presenting from Edinburgh.
