CPC set looks far superior to what we had last week

The Hospital Studios in Covent Garden would be a decent alternative. Close enough to BH.

They aren't cheap though... You may have noticed Watchdog no longer comes from there...

I was thinking of the ITV operation at Millbank, bit sure how big the studio they do the regional programmes from is.

I've just tried to find out some information on the ITV studio facility at Millbank, but there doesn't seem to be anything online.
http://www.millbank-studios.co.uk mentions a down-the-line Studio 2, but no details for Studio 1. Does it even exist anymore?

Given the style of building and what the building across from it is it looks like the are coming from part of MOSI site not far from the Old Granada studios

MOSI does indeed have a station building (which is what it looks like it says out the window). I've not been for a couple of years, but I think this might be the same part of the site that's got a broadcasting exhibit, including a Grass Valley vision mixer from Oxford Road.

I'd looked at that. They definitely can't use the DTL studio.

Studio 1 is the BBC Millbank studio - they used to list it on the website as available for hire, but for whatever reason don't seem to anymore. Back in the day ISTR they offered it as either complete with a set (presumably the BBC set), or as a four-waller.

No, the BBC has it's own separate setup. As previously mentioned, the ITV/ITN/Channel4 shared facility has a "studio 1" which is used daily for ITV national weather and weekly for the regional political programmes. It is also the ITN DR site and there are static chromakey backdrops to allow a ITV national bulletin to be broadcast without a huge departure from the current look.

It is probably no longer listed available for hire because of how busy it is. Previously ITV weather was in a separate part of the building so Studio 1 had more availability.

There are a couple of DTL studios in addition to this and an interview room which consists of an ENG camera and some DMX lighting.

To bring this back into topic: Studio 1 at Millbank would be much too small for the current Peston set, though they could use the regional politics set which is fixed like the regional news sets.

I always thought each broadcaster had their own space that was rented seperately at 4 Millbank. When I looked up the building a while back there seemed to be a lot of space available and they had different floor plans with the tenants marked off.

Ohh really? The Millbank studios website definitely used to show a photo of the BBC Millbank set on their studio 1 page!

The wayback machine doesn't show any pictures but I can assure you it was the ITV/ITN facility listed on that website. I recall the pictures showed the previous incarnation when the setup was still component/analogue - it was upgraded to digital around 2008 using equipment from the regions and then to HD a few years back.

What you may possibly be confused by is that ITV under the millbank studios banner provided the engineering and playout facilities under contract for BBC Parliament until 2008. I believe this was also mentioned on the old website.
