Apologies for the blank post that was here previously.. had a bit of a technical problem.

Sky News are now reporting he is unconscious... It's not looking good. I think there isn't long left for him now.

Maybe there'll be a tribute to him at the proms if he does die before Saturday.

According to BBC News, Luciano Pavarotti's health has worsened and he is in a "very serious" condition. Other sources suggest his kidneys have stopped working.

With all due respect, since he's suffering from cancer, I wouldn't be surprised if this is Mr Pavarotti's last week in this life.

Indeed, though quite why some idiot at the BBC thought it would be a good idea to send a crew to stand outside the ROH in London is beyond me ?

I was watching News 24 last night sadly expecting breaking news of his death.

A great opera singer.

RIP.

Every time radio 1 reported it, they mentioned one of his songs was a world cup theme, as if you didn't know who he was without saying that. Come on, everyone knows who Pavarotti was.

Yes but Pavarotti doing Nessun Dorma which became the theme score for the 1990 World Cup Theme is regarded as Pavarotti's "theme". Therefore everybody knows who he was on the back of that alone.

In all honesty, if you didn't know him as being "the" best known example of being an opera singer then the next best thing after it would probably be his role as part of The Three Tenors or his rendition of Nessun Dorma which, even if you don't recognise the name, everybody knows the song.
