Patrick Muirhead, former Radio 4 news presenter and anchor of Channel Report has attacked his former employer in the Times today.

The web version of the article is here:

And here also is a scan of the Jersey Evening Post with Channels defense from the MD:

Some fair comments there it has to be said. I do think Patrick Muirhead was totally unsuited to Channel Report as he is much better than that and just seemed not to fit in. I was surpised to be honest he moved from Radio 4 to do Channel Report. The same mistake as Kevin Owen made. Luckily he managed to go back to Sky, but what of Patrick?

A very good article.

I think its him that is the problem. Not nice to slag off your co-presenter!. When I have seen an edition of Channel Report, it was him who seemed to have a problem, not the other presenter.

Quite honestly, the transition from the today programme to the lightest news patch in the country must be very difficult.
Also, I realise Channel Report is not intended to be newsnight, but being forbidden from asking challenging questions seems too much:

Once, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda visited Jersey, ostensibly to collect four ribbon-bedecked Jersey cattle to bolster his nation’s dairy herd. I wished to ask him why he had really come to an island awash with financiers while massing his army on the border with his neighbour Congo ready for war with Hutus who threatened to invade. I could not have cared less about cutesy cows; I ached to be Jeremy Paxman. But my job was to gush and whoop convincingly about bovines in bunting. That sort of journalism demands no less panache that Paxo’s; it’s just not in my skills set.

I couldn't agree more. He is in a completely different league to the lot at Channel Television. Prob why they didn't get on. There's surely nothing to get your teeth into at Channel.

It was already mentioned, mid afternoon, in this thread, though there are more replies here, now.

Interesting that even the JEP accept that the original Times article was Patrick extracting the urine out of HIMSELF.

A very fair article from him, in my opinion, seeing it from both sides.

That Times article made me pee myself, what a brilliant brilliant piece of writing. Wonder of anyone at Channel could do that Confused

I can hear that can of worms opening.

Very nice piece of writing - and far too close to home for many in regional news I'm sure.

He hit many nails on the head - and was honest about himself as well - sounds like a welcome escape for him - hope to see or hear him soon.

I can see Kevin making a joke about that on Puffin's Pla(i)ce, what with the Puffin studio allegedly being redecorated before April 11th
