Anyone see the new look?

Gimmicky, tabloid and condescending. Awful presentation with the usual 'reporter pretending to research' shots interspersed with 'emotive' music. Gurning Jeremy Vine trying to ape Trev' on the other side - not that that's a good thing. Psychic Silverton was only there to pout and look light-weight.
Oh, and they've sh*t all over the theme tune and the titles are as bland as the last.
If I'd not seen Panorama or Real Story before I'd say they were taking the p*ss.

Just beats the 6 O'clock news though

And it managed to get a much lower audience than Tonight with Trevor McDonald did as reported here on Media Guardian

Why do you hate the BBC?

Well, I actually liked it and it works quite well: Horizon and Doctor Who have to modernise and adapt to match their audience, why shouldn't Panorama adopt this sort of thing?

The titles are OK, but most of the theme music sounds like something out of a horror film...

As for the ratings, it's probably just because the public isn't convinced Panorama will work in the slot. But I can guess (like a new set of station idents) that, although it'll be scolded in the first few weeks, it'll doubtless win viewers over in time.

Maybe it's because the theme tune scared them off...?

I liked that the had used Kate Silverton as the reporter on the story, as previously she had done a report about people who were unable to have children. Here she showed a lot of compassion, and showed that like everyone else she is human. It was good for a story to be investigated by someone who was truely interested in the field themselves.

Horizon has adapted to match it's audience? Bit harsh since they aim it at morons. I don't think it's had any decent science in it for at least a decade, the recent one with the chimps was appalling.

Yes, it has. Things have changed quite a lot - while in the old days Horizon simply used to list the facts and say "that's your lot", these days it uses plot lines, twists and hooks to try and bring the viewer in - and while there might be the odd turkey (like the one on the face transplant - that was APALLING ) I think most of them work quite well. But each to his own taste.

Anyway, back to Panorama...

I don't need to be 'hooked in'. Just give me the facts straight, without all the wobbly camera, silly GFX, multiple camera shots of the interviewee, presenters pretending to be interested, and archive material deliberately degraded in quality (err.. why?).

There is now no current affairs or science coverage on TV aimed at the intelligent and educated. The only possible exception is The Sky At Night, and look what's happened to that !

I prefer the now globe - I always thought that the old yellowy one on the blue looked a bit crap

The theme tune seems to have got older though
