From what I picked up from the bulletin he was killed last week before the royal wedding. Was there a news blackout about Bin Ladens death to prevent any unrest during the wedding.

There were some reports that he was killed by a drone last week, and it's taken the US this long to identify his DNA, but Obama's statement seems to contradict in that he said that "today" he authorised the attack, and that it was solely a ground operation.

No wonder conspiracies have already started with that and an alleged sea burial.

That would be the beeb I saw that on, I also saw that he had been fed to the fishes. Give me half hour and I'll spike 'imindoors coffee with brandy so he nods off then I will be able to watch news instead of sodding Jeremy Kyle.

Islamic tradition stipulates that bodies of the deceased must be buried with 24 hours of death. The body was offered to Saudi Arabia, but the Sauds declined, so the US flew it out to sea and 'buried' it there to avoid creating a pilgrimage site.

CNN's obsession with Twitter is quite tiresome. Yes it has become a valuable news source but I don't think incorporating it into television broadcasts works particularly well.

Really not enjoying the lady on the News Channel. She's speaking so fast it sounds a little garbled to my ear, and she comes in too quickly after others speak - weirdly so - as she's not "interrupting" them per se, but it sounds bad.

Latest information is that there ARE photos and/or footage; plus OBL was given a religious ceremony at his burial.

Inamongst all of this pseudo-jingoism, triumphalism and associated distaste, it's satisfying to note that even the most hated man on the planet (apart from Donald Trump) is given the dignity of a proper burial.

One assumes they are in N8 to allow a full hour of prep in N6 for tonights now extended BBC News At Six?

Yes, they also said that there is a big debate going on at the white house whether to release the photos or not.

Yes, although I wondered if they would use TC7 as they will probably use it for newsnight too.

They'll probably release thumbnails, and then the long-form photos about three years later.

I doubt TC7 would be staffed until later this evening. It's not clear from the schedule info on BBC online as it states that Newsnight is on from 23:00-23:05, something tells me Newsnight will be on for more than 5 minutes Very Happy

It was inevitable that Tim would turn up at some point today. He and Karin were scheduled to be on BBC World anyway in that slot today. Bit of a slip up on CNN. Errol Barnett in Abu Dhabi, eyes fixated on a monitor, and clearly nodding down instructions being fed into his ear about a current Obama live event. At the same time, an anonymous lady presenter could be heard screaming "I need a script. I need a script. NOW". Am staying glued to CNN to see who comes up next. Didn't recognise her voice.
