The same reporter asked if the government knew about before today.... how would he know, he's not in the government!
Some stupid bint interviewer on BBC just asked Ed Miliband if the raid was delayed so as to not conflict with the Royal Wedding.
Where do they get these people??

Oh for goodness sake, so effectively the same half hour of news will be shown at 18:00 and again at 18:30 !
I can't believe for one moment the 18:30 news will be an OBL free zone !

The likelihood of terrorist attacks have been discussed in great depth, in fact as I was writing my initial post the BBC News Channel were reporting on the Taliban response and the commander stating their potential targets. The people celebrating has also been touched upon by some offering their thoughts. Meanwhile on ITV News right now, they have just shown celebrations with nothing countering it as of yet.
I'm not denying that the situations are completely different, but the comparisons I'm drawing are the death of two notorious leaders who are responsible for the death of thousands and subsequent persecution of millions. There is simply no positive spin you can put on it in the Western culture without angering people, and any balance in news is going to look ridiculous. As I said in my initial post, balanced reporting is vital on the whole but there will always be exceptions to the rule.
I never suggested anything of the kind, you've completely misinterpreted what I said.
ITV have also ditched You've Been Framed in favour of a 40 minute bulletin at 6.15pm. Will be interesting to see if that is double headed or not, it would be the first bank holiday in a long time (excluding Friday).
Very easily.
It potentially makes him a martyr, it increases the likelihood of terrorist attacks, there is the whole issue of assassination without trial... stuff like that. Also the exceptionally tasteless bunch of people celebrating outside the White House brings to mind those images of people in Palestine celebrating on Sept 12th which the US criticised so much.

Hitler is completely different, my Godwinning chum, the various nation states were engaged in total war against each other according to international norms. This is not the case in Iraq or Afghanistan and definitely not in Pakistan.

To suggest that the only possible "balance" is to interview his second in command because "it really damages our ability to kill people" is to take a ludicrously simplicity view of the world.

Mary Nightingale in for ITV News.

Whilst obv I made up that quote for comic effect I am having difficulty interpreting the gist of your original post in any other way than "I think this bad person's death is a good thing, I do not see why 'fake balance' should be inserted."
Also I did not suggest that the various topics had not been covered by the news orgs, just that they were an opposing view to the obvious "gung ho" attitude of some US networks.
Whether or not it my brain melting or simply you being unclear I would very much welcome a dumbed down version / clarification of what you mean.

The 18:30 bulletin is only 15 minutes long. I'd guess for other news, weather etc.. Regional news at 18:45.

Amroliwala just trailed the 6pm special with Sophie Raworth. Might Maitlis be doing a Newsnight Special?

Who was it?
No idea, probably just a regular broadcast journalist rather than a named reporter
