I don't find this news unwelcome, but I find the clearly propogandist portrayal by all channels as quite disturbing. The 'celebratory' comment by Cameron is worrying.

Whatever people's view of Bin Laden, he hadn't been tried, convicted or sentenced of anything. It's not the place of democratic countries to mete out executions without trial or any form of justice. Even Saddam was granted that, in at least some form, by his own country.

I don't see any balanced arguments here from our home-grown news channels, or even government spokespeople being challenged about what went on.

I really can't stand CNN's coverage. On CNN International, we're getting a program called 'American Morning'. I've never really liked CNN, but this coverage is a little dumbed-down and very superficial in places, mixed with some irrelevant details. Are they bimbos or do they know what they're talking about?!

It's interesting to see BBC News coverage throughout the day considering the Bank Holiday. Hope this doesn't give them a disadvantage, although good coverage so far.

Even Lorraine covered the story for about 10 minutes on her programme. Also Daybreak's graphics need to change: that ticker incident has happened before, and it's incredibly amateurish!

You can't really blame the broadcasters for that one.

CNN are saying that his death has boosted markets. Is this a coincidence, or is that how it works in the markets?!

But UK public service broadcasters have a duty to be 'balanced' at least.

I don't think they are being, they are repeating propaganda.

Pretty much just how it works!

CNN's coverage seems to be quite patriotic, with scenes of Americans with flags. Understandably so, because of the boundless impact of 9/11. I haven't seen it overly so on BBC so far, watching Breakfast. They seems to be taking it within their stride.

What choice would they have if they couldn't find anyone to say "this is a bad thing"?

Now is the time I wish I had a stream for BBC World News. Might get a satellite sorted eventually. How are they covering it so far? I'm surprised some form of simulcast hasn't been done for BBC NC/WN.

CNN are running a simulcast with Hala Gorani co-presenting American Morning.
